I thought this item would be more secure in opening and closing. It flops open very easily and I was surprised it does not stay shut and just flops open. The quality of the workmanship is very good and I am happy about that.
I would have been more impressed if it stayed closed better.

This was a gift to our boss who was retiring and who happens to like sailing. It was the perfect sentiment and not too elaborate or large a gift. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the compass did not work properly.

The feet on the bottom weren't the same good quality that I've been getting at personalization.com. They seemed to be haphazardly attached. Otherwise it was fine.

Purchased as a retirement gift for an employee. Everyone. Including the retiree loved it. Much more impressive than the typical clock. There was a small scratch on the back by a hinge but I dont think anyone noticed but me.

Rush job

This is a nice gift, however we did a "Rush job" on this order and I did notice that it kind of looks "rushed". Everything was correct on the engraving, but it looks like the engraved plaques were glued on in a rush manner. Some of them are spun a bit counter clockwise or clockwise, and a few are sitting not in the middle of the area correctly. Again, I am sure this is due to the "rush job" I needed completed. I ordered these on a Thursday afternoon, and I received them on Sunday afternoon, so it was only a 3 day turn around for all 8 that I had personalized. I was happy to know that I could order so many different personalized items and get them in such a short amount of time.

I bought this for a graduation gift; the
brown color is so dark I questioned if it was dark brown or black. Plus the lacquered finish takes a way a true wood look. I called customer services with both of these concerns.
